Seven formulas just for cichlids seem like an overkill, especially when other manufacturers and brands who don’t even produce their foods, offer one or two. The reason for this is simple. Cichlids come in a multitude of colors and sizes, and many require special diets. One or two formulas just don’t fill the needs of these aquatic jewels. Cichlids with yellow, orange and red colors require different sources of pigment in their diets to keep these hues separate and distinct.
These encapsulated 1.0 mm sinking pellets are packed with nutrition through-and-through. There are quite literally four separate inclusions of vitamins, minerals, krill, and garlic, three doses each of spirulina and astaxanthin. With the finishing toppers being the inclusion of calcium montmorillonite clay and marine copepods, this food stands out in a class of its own.

Here is where the Dainichi magic happens.
After the extruded pellets cool down to ambient temperature, they undergo another major manufacturing process. Ingredients which suffer any degradation from exposure to heat during extrusion process, are subsequently mixed into a slurry which we apply the the pellets. This is not a token water-soluable vitamin mist meant to tick the “encapsulation” check box, but a true nutritional layer of ingredients comprising as much as 12% of the pellet’ weight. Thus, the prebiotics, vitamins, appetite stimulants and color enhancers applied at this low temperature, provide un-compromised levels of nutrition and potency. Dainichi is the only food producer in the world to offer a genuine encapsulation feature resulting in un-equaled level of potency and nutrition.
This encapsulation process is extremely costly and labor intensive, easily doubling the cost of manufacture, which is why we, Dainichi Fish Food are the only manufacturer in the world to offer this feature. Proper Usage
Often hobbyists notice that they need to feed several different foodsfor their fish to thrive and display their beauty. This is not necessary with our foods.

Blues, reds, yellows, and black colors are displayed vividly by all fish in a single display and using only one or two Dainichi cichlid formulas. Our unique point of view drives our reason behind offering seven different formulas for cichlids as to what is required to maximize the colors of cichlids. We consider the various pigment-rich ingredients in our foods to be like an assortment of paints on an artist’s pallet. You, the aquarist, are the ‘painter’ creating the desired image in your aquarium. For example, suppose the desire is to maximize yellow, orange, and deep scarlet red colors of fish in the same aquarium or even on the same fish. In that case, using one strong color-enhancing ingredient is completely wrong and pointless. All of these related colors will be skewed to the direction of the particular ingredient. A heavy dose of something like Haematococcus algae will use its warm-red properties and turn the yellows orangish and deep reds to a warm red hue. The winner? Orange…by a mile.
We at Dainichi consider this to be a lazy, amateurish effort. We believe it is better to formulate with six of seven separate pigment-rich ingredients to ensure that all colors are made more vibrant, yet distinctly their own hue.
