Real Nutrition For Turtles and Terrapins

Floating sticks and pellets offered in large, medium and mini sizes.

What makes our Dainichi Turtle Food stand out?

As turtles are one of the longest living pets we choose to keep as pets, it becomes all-the-more important to provide them with a well-balanced source of nutrition to ensure that they thrive over the years rather than just survive for a time. Therefore, as with all of our other foods, we completely abstain for formulating with any junk and filler ingredients. Only ingredients which are necessary and beneficial to the animal’s health and beauty ever find their way into Dainichi foods.

As such, we provide generous portions of marine proteins such as white fishmeal, antarctic krill, marine copepods as well as vegetable matter such as spirulina, garlic, peas and the vitamin E-rich wheatgerm. Further inclusions of vitamins and minerals like calcium carbonate and calcium montmorillonite clay round off the needs of these interesting animals

As an added benefit, the omission of the undesireable fillers and undigestible matter in this formula lowers the turtles’ waste output which, due to their size, can be a serious factor in a smaller tank or pond. This by itself, typically provides about 30% reduction in required food volume and any reduction in sepric load is a factor greatly appreciated by all!

Proper Usage

As turtles and terrapins are very long-lived animals, it is doubly important to give them a quality diet over their whole life span. Fed substandard diets in their developmental years, they may exhibit poor growth, defects in their carapace and passive or unhappy behavior. In some cases the deficiencies in nutrition can lead to a drastically shortened lifespan. Heavy fat deposits may not be very evident externally but the turtles’ internal organs being encapsulated with fats will lead to a dramatically shortened period of time the turtle and the hobbyist can enjoy their time together. The adage; ‘You are what you eat” very much applies here. Additionally, the fillers and poorly digestible matter will be excreted as waste, thus severely polluting the living space. Excessive odors may further make the turtle-keeping experience rather unpleasant. We at Dainichi can offer a solution.

So, what is Dainichi bringing to the table for your pets?

A lot… Since our beginnings in 1997, we have established our reputation as producer of highest quality foods focused on un-compromised nutrition, and on stressing the physical beauty, health and un-paralleled longevity of the animals we make food for. Our food should be considered as a base or staple of the turtles’ diet which can be further enhanced wit a variety of treats your pet may relish. Such a regiment will ensure the health, beauty and well-being of ones pets for many years.

Are any other supplements required?

Not required, but most certainly welcomed. Variety of food items is greatly beneficial and provided a great deal of satisfaction and enjoinment to both the pet and the hobbyist alike. In addition to the highly nutritious Dainichi Turtle Food, regular offerings of fresh foods similar to what the turtle may encounter in the wild will stimulate the natural behavior and provide a great deal of contentment. This may consist of some fresh items such as fruit, vegetables or meats such as shrimp or bits of fish filet.
